Le Meridien Cochin To Tap The Surge In Kerala Tourism

After winning the Kerala State Tourism award for the 'Best Five-Star Deluxe Hotel', Le Meridien Cochin has taken the responsibility of setting high standards in the hotel industry. On every front the hotel is constantly and innovatively re-inventing itself. In its continued efforts to boost tourism in the state, the hotel is exploring opportunities worldwide. This time they focus on promoting God's own country via the Middle-East to UK, CIS countries and the Czech Republic. To facilitate this endeavour they hosted a group of nine prominent and leading tour operators from UAE in association with Concord Exotic Voyages (India) Pvt Ltd. The tour operators included DNATA, Al Majid Travels, Ajman National Travel Agency, Gulf Air and White Sands Tours/Travels from Dubai, Al Faisal Travels, Al Rais Travels and Skyline Travels from Sharjah.

Explains James Kodianthara, managing partner, Concord Tours and Travels, "Kerala is already basking in the growth of tourism business and we are optimistic that the place will receive a surge from these new markets as well." This effort is going to set the tempo for an entire exchange and intelligent assimilation of the travel trends. As general manager, Le Meridien, Kochi, Sanjay Sharma, aptly puts it, "Our aim is to tap this surge in Kerala tourism and join hands with the intensive and consistent efforts of Kerala tourism to make the state an international destination". Sharma has declared the year 2004 as the 'Passion for People' year. We have set ourselves a goal to develop it as a culture amongst our employees to improve our service delivery, adopt a professional approach and thus be a catalyst to Kerala tourism.
