GK’s River View - A ‘Home Away From Home’

Imagine a dream holiday in the tropical paradise of Kerala. Then imagine that holiday by staying at home - or rather by home staying. The growing number of visitors to Kerala now have the option of making their holiday more memorable by being housed by knowledgeable, friendly and government approved Keralite families "Home stays". All the peace of mind and comfort of home, superb traditional cuisine and the opportunity to experience real local culture literally as "part of that family".

George Kutty, proprietor of GK's River View Home Stay at Kumarakom/Kottayam. Winner of this years state tourism award for 'The Best Home Stay Facility in Kerala' epitomises the home stay spirit. Kutty's guests are his greatest advertisement and the reason for his recent award. The guests book at "G K's River View Home Stay" over flows with praise of the accommodation, food, location and of course, the hospitality.

This hospitality begins right from the time a guest arrives in Kerala. Be it by bus, train or plane, Kutty, personally meets his guests and escorts them to his hideaway retreat, nestled in the beautiful backwaters of Kottayam district. Once there, Kutty and family ensure their newfound guests feel right at home. Whether sampling a mouth watering dish, picking Kutty's brain for advice on local sights or simply relaxing among at the emerald green paddy fields and coconut groves, the home stay provides a total holiday experience. This is really a "Home away from home".

His home stay unit is situated on the bank of River Meenachil just three km to the huge Vembanadu lake and the Kumarakom birds sanctuary. If you want to see and know the history of a snake boat (racing boat) which can carry more than 100 rowers at a time, he got it there. He will also arrange backwater cruise by country, motor or house boats or by the government ferry and trip to Thekkady (Periyar) wild life sanctuary and Munnar Hill Station. He got five double mosquito free rooms to accommodate the maximum of 20 people at a time.
