It’s A Great Feeling To Be Benchmarked Against The Best

Arup Sen, director, Cox & Kings India P Limited in conversation with Reema Sisodia, speaks about the company's success and its future plans

What does the award mean to you?

It definitely is an honour for Cox & Kings. Any award is a motivation, but this is especially significant because it is a pat on the back from the industry, as the stakeholders were involved inthe voting process. While the recognition will act as an impetus for the young team to perform better, it is a great feeling to be benchmarked among the best - each nominee in the category was a high performer.

What according to you was the secret of your success?

I think we succeeded because we keep a finger on the pulse of Indian travel industry. The outbound market is getting more discerning and today's traveller expects a high standard of service and professionalism. We have reached out to the needs of Indian travellers in the quickest response time and in the most cost-effective way and continuously improved our product. Further, we have a young team and its members are always striving to excel.

How do you plan to retain this success and increase your market share?

This award is recognition of our efforts in the travel industry. We strongly believe that a good product at a great price are the key ingredients and will keep delivering and living up our promise of offering the Indian traveller not just another holiday, but an unparalleled travel experience. Through total business process automation that incorporates cutting edge technology solutions, we plan to rationalise costs and ensure 'process savings'. We are also going to focus on niche markets with customised product offerings.

What are the company's future plans?

With the volatile scenario prevailing, the mandate is to adapt and react quickly in tandem with the changing trends and focus on relevant business segments without diluting efforts on the other. The pace at which you react to the scenario is crucial. Our outbound group tours brand 'Duniya Dekho' or FlexiHols or our domestic holiday brand 'Bharat Dekho' are doing well. MICE Travel, our incentive solutions division has made great in roads and has been a key contributor in fuelling growth. Further, we have our corporate travel division that has been a sturdy and steady performer. Our focus is on bringing in cutting edge technology solutions and continuing to innovate.
