Taj Rolls Out ‘New Spirit Of Change’ With Bangalore Property

Vyas Sivanand - Bangalore

Taj Residency, Bangalore has become the first hotel in the country of the Residency brand of Indian Hotels Company Limited to introduce its newly renovated guestrooms and banquet facilities. This is in keeping with the changes being rolled across Taj Business Hotels.

Forty new guestrooms spread across two floors of the hotel and unique banquetting facilities with state-of-the-art lighting, equipments and décor is the result of this drive by the Taj group. Jyoti Narang, chief operating officer, Taj Business Hotels said, "The renovations were undertaken after extensive research and reflect the changing lifestyle of our customers."

The group moved away from the conventional to create what is now termed as Residency Premium rooms. "We thought of doing away with the bath tub and provide a larger bathing area. Space was utilised to provide steam units. Double headed showers for massages, which is being seen in the country for the first time, has also been provided. Then we addressed the quality of entertainment by bringing in 42-inch plasma TVs, a DVD, MP3, CD player, with surround speakers and sub-woofers. We have considered the bedding too by providing hard as well as soft mattress and pillows. The work desk is a two-level mobile desk with Herman Miller's ergonomically designed chairs," said Narang.

The banquet area has also been renovated totally with new imported moveable sound partitions, integration of modern design features with subtle allusions to the rich historical traditions of Karnataka. “We have included state-of-the-art lighting set in intricately detailed ceilings, with multi-tiered and leaf pattern chandeliers. The lighting can be controlled with a remote and can be played around the way one desires. We have also incorporated technologically advanced acoustics for high-resolution sound," said Saurabh Ratan, general manager, Taj Residency.

The next Residency to undergo similar changes will be Taj President, Mumbai.
