ENIT Appoints Personnel To Facilitate Visa Process

As of October 1, 2003, ENIT (The Italian State Tourist Board) appointed two personnel in Mumbai to facilitate the visa process for Italy. The appointed staff post-training at ENIT office will be placed at the Italian Consulate in Mumbai and will specifically cater to visa applications forwarded by travel agents and tour operators alone. This will certainly help boost tourism to Italy as the process will be less cumbersome and time consuming. Says Salvatore Ianniello, representative in India, ENIT, “The appointment of the said personnel is a fall out of last year’s ENIT seminar held in Mumbai. After a discussion between the Ministry of International Affairs in Mumbai and ENIT, a budget was allocated to commission staff in countries where the number of tourists going to Italy was hampered due to a shortage of employees to cater to visas at the consulate.”

A similar arrangement is also underway in Delhi. While the approvals for the same have already come through, the selection process is still ongoing.
