SQ To Operate Flights From Bangalore

The Far East, no longer labelled the ‘sour east’, is getting in full gear post-SARS. In keeping with the upswing, Singapore Airlines (SQ) anticipates increase in traffic and is soon to commence its Bangalore operations.

“Plans are slated to launch operations around August 28, 2003,” says B K Ong, general manager, India, Singapore Airlines. Reiterated Gordon Jacobs, manager passenger sales, western India, Singapore Airlines, “We will operate flights thrice a week in Bangalore and the fleet would be Boeing 777-200. The approvals have already come through and we did plan to do this a while ago but postponed it for a more opportune time.” At the moment, there are no plans to add any more hubs although instating a space bed - the biggest bed in Business Class on all B 747s and 777s is underway.
