Kerala Tourism Among 100 Indian Superbrands

Kerala tourism has been recently listed among the 100 top brands in India by Superbrands India Ltd, an Indian division of the globally renowned Superbrands Ltd.

The state enjoys the privilege of being the only tourism destination in the listing, which is being done for the first time in the country. Kerala has been selected from among 700 brands in the country that were evaluated in 95 different categories to identify the strongest Indian brands. The top 100 will be accorded the highly coveted Superbrands status - internationally known as the ‘Oscars in the world of branding’. And will be listed in Superbrands India’s very first edition of the book ‘Superbrands,’ a chronicle of India’s strongest brands.

For the evaluation of Indian brands, Superbrands has appointed a Brand Council that comprises the heads of top corporate like Dalip Sehgal, executive director of Hindustan Lever and Yogi C Deveshwar, chairman of ITC. Media chiefs like Raghav Bahl, managing editor, CNBC and Pradeep Guha, president, Bennett Coleman and advertising icons like Piyush Pandey, group president and national creative director, Ogilvy & Mather are among the others.

Kerala Tourism enjoys this status among other prestigious brands in India including Raymond, Johnson & Johnson, Britannia, Horlicks, Hero Honda, Godrej, American Express, Economic Times, Levi’s, Nike, Airtel, ESPN, IBM and the likes in the Superbrands India ranking.

Said Ram Datta, COO, Superbrands India Ltd, “This is a tribute to the concerted and consistent efforts of Kerala tourism to make the state an aspiration to international destinations.”

Superbrands today promotes the discipline of branding, acknowledges exceptional brands, induces competitiveness and encourages brand development and brand management through independent Brand Councils in 18 countries across the world.

According to T Balakrishnan, secretary, Kerala Tourism, “The ranking is a major fillip for Kerala in many ways. Being listed by Superbrands itself is a matter of great pride and will give us considerable exposure. Secondly, being the only product in its category among India’s superbrands, testifies the remarkable marketing achievements of Kerala on the whole.”
