Haryana Tourism To Launch Adventure Park At Morni Hills

Catering to a growing demand for adventure tourism, the Haryana Tourism Development Corporation has decided to introduce an adventure theme park with the concept of ‘fun n thrill’ at Tikkar Taal surrounded with Morni hills, the only hilly area of the state of Haryana. According to Navraj Sandhu, managing director, Haryana Tourism Corporation and director tourism and hospitality, Haryana says “An adventure park of this nature was long overdue in the state and Tikkar Taal with its setting near the Morni Hills which is ideal location for the project. Among the spurs of the hills, lie two lakes, divided by a small hillock ideal place for water sports like boating, canoeing, kayaking and sailing. The tourism department will float tenders for this project by July 2003” informed Sandhu.

Sandhu further added that, “Camping activities for students has already been initiated at Morni. A dormitory to accommodate visitors as well as the students, with a capacity of 32 persons is underway and will be inaugurated shortly by the chief minister of Haryana. The Cafe which currently only serves tourists on weekends will be regularised to operate everyday.” Apart from this, the tourism department in association with the sports department will be reportedly initiating Parasailing in the month May, this year at Pinjore.

Commenting on the marketing strategy to up inbound numbers into Haryana, Sandhu says, “We are developing different parts of Haryana to cater to different segments in tourism. For instance, Morni offers adventure tourism, while Kurukshetra is conducive to promoting religious tourism and Sohana is the perfect place to enjoy health tourism. In this way each of these products have their own value and attraction to both the inbound and domestic tourists. Presently, we are in process of up gradation and renovation of our existing complexes at these destinations to give the best of hospitality at Haryana,” she said.
