British Airways Adds 50 Per Cent More Capacity For Kolkata

British Airways has further increased the benefits for its economy customers travelling from Kolkata. With a Boeing 747-400 serving the route instead of a Boeing 777, the aircraft change represents a significant increase in the number of World Traveller (economy cabin) seats available providing greater availability to the growing travel market in East India.

As part of a major overhaul of its products and services, the airline has invested 150 million pounds (Rs 112.5 crore) in developing its economy service. Ergonomically designed seats ensure customers’ comfort and individual seat back video screens provide passengers with a choice of eight channels of entertainment.

Says Alok Sawhney, British Airways commercial manager, India: “The East India region is an important one for British Airways which is reflected in the continual development of our services. In addition, it will benefit tourism in the area which is growing from the UK and Europe.”
