SOTC
SITA, a division of Kuoni Travel India, has added a new strategic
business unit to its existing fold called Sport Abroad.
This division has been floated exclusively to focus on holiday
offers based on mega global sports events in areas of tennis,
cricket, Formula 1 racing, golf and soccer. Petronas Malaysian
Grand Prix 2003 is the first product launch of Sport Abroad.
This unit will be dedicated completely to organising sports
holidays for corporates as well as FITs, where all facilities
in terms of accommodation, airfares, visa fees, sight seeing
airport tax and transfers would be designed as per client
specification along with organising the sports events ticket.
Organising the Mayalsian F1 racing event as their flagship
venture, the group has planned a series of entertainment activites,
celebrations and festive offers as part of the package at
Kuala Lumpur.
Sport Abroad also aims to target other lifestyle sports events
across the globe such as The Dubai Creek Classic, organised
by the UAE Golf Association, followed by holiday offers for
the Italian, Spanish, British, French and European Grand Prix.
Organising tours for tennis events such as the Wimbledon and
French Open will also be part of the plan. Apart from tennis,
soccer events such as the Italian Series A, The Spanish La
Liga and The English Premier League are also on offer.
Mentioned Zubin Karkaria, chief operating officer, Kuoni Outbound,
The significant increase in Indian tourist traffic to
Malaysia prompted us to introduce the Petronas Malaysian Grand
Prix 2003 as our first product offering for Indian sports
enthusiasts. This new unit aims at providing a different travel
product for corporate incentive travel as well as the Indian
individual leisure traveller.
Adding new sports events and offers to the clients would be
a serious endevour on our path toward providing a constant
value add-on to our clients.
Sport Abroad will act as an official body in India for international
sports events that would come under the unit fold. Special
incentive tours would be organised for the corporate travellers
as a unique offer. With respect to the Malaysian F1 event,
the product displays tremendous flexibility by giving Indian
leisure travellers the option to purchase only certain components,
such as just the Grand Prix tickets or only land arrangements
with extensions or only air tickets or a combination of any
of these. Being the official agent for The Petronas Malaysian
Grand Prix 2003 in India, Sport Abroad will also have the
flexibility to offer the customers circuit viewing for any
of the three days covering either the practice session or
the qualifying round or simply the final race.
