A
trip to Tamil Nadu has always been a spiritual sojourn for
me. It is a state where tradition and heritage are ingrained
in the very essence of the states cultural fabric. With
temples galore, the state is unique in its spirit and sense.
The place also has some famous churches and mosques which
are popular as pilgrim destinations.
The most famous item of Tamil Nadu cuisine are the idli and
dosa which has been recognised as Indias staple breakfast
diet. But there is more to the states food fare, like
the Chettinad cuisine.
If
you plan to commence your journey from the states capital,
Chennai, dont miss out on the beautiful sarees which
are a specialty of this city, formerly known as Madras. Locals
still refer to the city by its old name.
If temples are not your calling and nature is your religion,
Tamil Nadu still does not let you down. With world famous
hill stations such as Ooty and Kodaikanal on its map, you
have nature in all its glory. Soak your self in the beautiful
waterfalls of the region, as they are pure music to the soul.
If you like a dash of salt in your water, Tamil Nadu has the
countrys most spectacular beaches, thanks to the Bay
of Bengal. Check out Mandapam beach.
Once in Tamil Nadu, not visiting Kanyakumari would be a crime.
Located at the confluence of the three seas engulfing India,
Kanyakumari is also called Triveni Sangam. Renowned for its
Swami Vivekanada temple, the region has one of the best sunrise
and sunset panorama to offer. Take time off to observe the
journey of the majestic sun at the tip of India.
