To Connect Air-India, Indian Airlines
Tunis Air To Commence Flights To Dubai

Tunis Air, the national carrier of Tunisia will commence operations of its flights to Dubai from December, this year. The airline has also put forward a proposal to Indian Airlines and Air-India to carry forward its India bound passengers from Dubai to India and reciprocally, has offered to carry their passengers out of Dubai to London and Europe giving them a free stopover in Tunis.

A high-level Tunisian tourism delegation was recently in New Delhi to have wide ranging talks with officials of the two national carriers. However, the response was encouraging and the delegation hopes that something positive will come about. This decision was announced by the Tunisian delegation comprising Seifallah Larsam, CEO-DG-Tunisian National Tourism Board, Mohamad Mzah, vice-president and DG external relations - Tunis Air and Donia Jemaiel, manager - marketing department, Tunisian National Tourism Board at a reception hosted jointly by the ASSOCHAM and the Confederation of Tourism Professionals in New Delhi.

Tunisian Ambassador HE Elyes Kasri said, “The initiative to explore the Indian market in the field of aviation and tourism was a political decision based on economic realities. Both countries, which came closer to each other since the launching of the Non Alignment Movement were committed to working together for peace and security in the world.”

Subhash Goyal, chairman of the ASSOCHAM’s Committee on aviation and tourism and president of the Confederation of Tourism Professionals, further added that the initiative taken by Tunisia to promote aviation and tourism between the two countries would be mutually beneficial. There is much for India to learn from Tunisa, which had made tourism an instrument for economic development and eradication of poverty.
