2002 Evokes Positive Response From Northern India

The
recently concluded India Travel Mart (ITM) 2002, a three-day
international travel and tourism exhibition held in
Chandigarh, evoked a substantial response from visitors
of Northern India. The Punjab and Chandigarh regions
has tremendous potential for holding various tourism
events all year round. These events generate a lot of
direct and indirect employment opportunities and through
this multiplier effect, the economy will rise to a new
height, affirmed Ashwani Sekhri, Punjab tourism and
cultural affairs minister. The event was organised by
Global Management, New Delhi.
ITM 2002 which was the second consecutive show to be
held in Chandigarh proved to be a major success in terms
of spreading awareness on various tourism products and
services available in the market. The travel mart provided
a platform for several travel and tourism communities
to tap the tourist potential in a focussed manner. The
exhibition also received a positive response from trade
visitors as well as the corporate sector.
About 50 national and international participants set
up stalls providing necessary information. The exhibition
also attracted visitors from the Northern states like
Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu
and Kashmir, Delhi and Rajasthan.
