base
In a bid to secure a considerable sum of the Indian
tourism market, the government of Chhattisgarh recently
allotted Rs 400 crore for a major revamping of its road,
air and rail connectivity as well as development of
tourism-related infrastructure.
Speaking to Express Travel & Tourism, Ajit Jogi,
chief minister, government of Chhattisgarh, revealed,
If Chhattisgarh is to leave an impressionable
mark and grow extensively with its tourism industry,
there is an immense need to revamp the existing road,
rail and air network as it is a major deterrent factor.
More so, the present tourism infrastructure is minimal
and therefore, it is vital to create a strong tourism
infrastructure base. Now, with allotment of Rs 400 crore
the endeavour of promoting the tourism potential of
the state will intensify.
Commenting on the need for upgrading and development
of its connectivity and infrastructure, Jogi further
added that, the state even though endowed with vast
tourism assets; has in the past year since its inception,
fail to reap optimum benefits primarily due to poor
infrastructure and restricted connectivity. Currently,
in its initial stages the government is working extensively
on its road connectivity with other states. Following
the airport and air connectivity to the state is to
be considered. With reference to tourism infrastructure
such as hotels, motels and restaurants
the government continues to keep its doors open to private
and non-resident Indian (NRIs) players to invest in
tourism development.
